The stable block is Grade II* listed building designed by John Soane on the Royal Hospital Chelsea site and has recently undergone a comprehensive refurbishment.
The stable block has been carefully converted and now houses a café, a museum, a post office, and outreach spaces. The original floor plan has been revealed, and the elevations have been returned to their original arrangement.
This project required detailed coordination with the architect to ensure that all refurbishment work is in accordance with English Heritage and other conservation guidelines. The services are designed to accommodate the future addition of heat pumps by incorporating carefully concealed fan convectors, sized to provide sufficient heat output at lower circulation temperatures.
Method Consulting provided building services engineering design services.
