Chiltern Academy, Luton
Chiltern Academy is a new ESFA, 8-form entry secondary Academy sponsored by Chiltern Learning Trust specialising in sport, engineering and business.
The challenging site was a very noisy site as was close to Luton Airport amd had a trunk sewer and HV electricity cables running across the site.
We developed a mechanical ventilation solution which meets the ESFA FOS requirements whilst keeping the windows closed to be able to meet noise requirements, and without requiring mechanical cooling, except in IT-intensive spaces. A large PV array provides renewable energy to reduce energy bills.
Our sustainability team set the BREEAM strategy to establish a route to Very Good rating.
